Fiberglass Supply has been supplying quality epoxy resins, coatings, and adhesives to discriminating craftsmen for over thirty years. During this period an increasing variety of epoxy formulations have become available for various applications that include thorough documentation, availability in economical quantities and are well suited to specific applications. The information provided below is intended to help select an appropriate epoxy product for your project. In some instances there is no right or wrong and selection is a matter of personal preference. All of these epoxies are inventoried and generally available for immediate shipment. Additionally our suppliers have other epoxy products available that may be more suitable for some applications. Contact us if you require further information, specifications or help with your particular application.
System Three Resin® is a 100% solids, unfilled, medium-modulus general purpose epoxy system suited to over 90% of all epoxy applications. It works great for new wood construction and repair, for gel coat blister repair and for general fiberglass boat repair. User friendly 2:1 volume ratio with any of the three hardeners. System Three Epoxy has excellent pot life and cure-time control. Use at temperatures as low as 35?F with no limitations on humidity. System Three Epoxy cures to a very tough, resilient, clear film. The medium to low viscosity of System Three Epoxy allow the use “as is” for coating and fiberglass work. Combine with different fillers to make excellent adhesive, filleting and fairing compounds. When selecting a hardener, consider the minimum temperature expected during application, and the required pot life. Combine the hardeners to provide a continuous range of cure times within the extremes of the Fast (#1) and Slow (#3). Refer to The Epoxy Book (2 Megs)to make proper selection. See Technical Data Sheet and MSDS for additional information.

Set time is the approximate time it takes for a thin epoxy film to “set”. At this point it will no longer flow and is tack-free to the lightest touch but still tacky to a heavy touch. See Epoxy Book for more detailed information.
System Three SilverTip products are application specific epoxy solutions. The SilverTip product range encompasses a laminating resin, a sag resistant adhesive, a quick-curing fairing compound, and a pre-mixed filleting compound. This system is designed with ease of use in mind and is made from high quality components.
SilverTip Laminating Resin is a med-low viscosity, liquid epoxy system that has been optimized for coating and reinforcing fabric saturation in wood-composite boatbuilding. It will outperform any other product in these applications. SilverTip Laminating Resin is designed for use with fiberglass, Kevlar, Dynel and graphite as well as on bare wood. It has superior wet-out characteristics with little tendency to foam or trap air. Both the resin and hardener are nearly colorless and are used in an easy 2:1 volumetric ratio. SilverTip Laminating Resin cures to a brilliant blush-free film with either the fast or slow hardener eliminating secondary bonding concerns as experienced with other epoxies. The working time is longer than most boat building epoxies without sacrificing cure time. The cured film is tough and resilient with better heat resistance than other room temperature cured epoxies. Fillers, wood flour, and bulking agents can be combined with SilverTip Laminating Resin, however we do not recommend this approach. Instead we suggest using the other members of the SilverTip Series for adhesive, filleting and fairing applications.
GelMagic is a toughened, non-sagging, two component, structural epoxy adhesive designed for superior bonding to wood and most porous materials. It is unique in that it starts as two self-leveling liquids, which immediately form a soft, thixotropic, non-sagging paste when mixed. Measuring is easily accomplished by either volume or weight. GelMagic requires no additional modification with fillers and can be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces without running, eliminating the mess and waste associated with other epoxies. Gel-Magic exhibits exceptionally high peel strength and employs a state of the art, two-phase epoxy morphology, which creates an adhesive bond that is more tough, resilient, resistant to embrittlement and possess better elevated temperature properties than other room temperature cured epoxy adhesives. GelMagic can be post-cured up to 140 degrees for even greater performance.
EZ Fillet is a wood flour-filled two-part putty specifically designed for stitch-and-glue wooden boat construction. Its ketchup-like, self-leveling consistency allows it to be measured by volume or weight. The resin (part A) is brick red in color while the hardener (part B) is a deep, dark green. A rich brown wood tone results when the two parts are combined indicating complete mixing. The putty thickens after mixing to form an easy to spread, thixotropic compound, which stays put and will not run or sag. EZ Fillet has been designed for superior strength and workability and can be used by itself to create smooth cosmetic fillets or as a structural fillet when combined with fiberglass cloth. EZ Fillet can be applied by spatula or caulking tube. A convenient pastry bag technique can be used by snipping off the corner of a plastic food storage bag and filling it with mixed EZ Fillet. Adjust the size of the hole to deliver just the right amount of EZ Fillet.
QuikFair is a lightweight, microballoon-filled, fast-curing two-part epoxy fairing putty with excellent moisture resistance. The two color-coded parts have a non-sagging, butter-like consistency and are easily mixed to form a third color. At 70°F. QuikFair is sufficiently cure to be hand-sanded in 3 hours or machine sanded in 4 hours. This allows the user to apply three coats each 24 hours in a standard eight-hour shift or six in a round the clock basis.
Clear Coat Epoxy, an extremely low viscosity, clear, water white, solvent free “penetrating” epoxy system. Clear Coat is ideal for clear coating wood, wetting out fiberglass cloth for bright finished boats and for dry rot saturation-repair. Use as primer (base) for clear linear polyurethane or varnish coatings and as a penetrating first coat for blister repair on fiberglass boats. Use also for those applications that require long pot life and low viscosity. Clear Coat cures to a brilliantly clear, very tough finish without the usual “amine blush” associated with some epoxy resin films. Clear Coat contains no volatile solvents. Use Clear Coat as the sole epoxy system to make wood strip canoes and kayaks. Sand and varnish Clear Coat in order to avoid water spotting. See Technical Data Sheet and MSDS for additional information.

SB-112 Epoxy Resin is a clear, ultraviolet light stabilized, almost water-white high modulus epoxy system. Originally formulated for use in building sailboards and surfboards over extruded polystyrene cores. SB-112 has also become popular in wooden boat fabrication for coating and laminating where clarity is a prime consideration. Unlike many epoxy resins, SB-112 will cure to a clear, glossy, blush-free surface. Kit contains Resin and Hardener. See Technical Data Sheet and MSDS for additional information.

West System® Epoxy is a versatile, high quality, two part epoxy that is easily modified for a wide range of coating and adhesive applications. It is used for construction and repairs requiring superior moisture resistance and high strength. It bonds to fiberglass, wood metal, fabrics, and other composite materials, and is especially suited for marine applications.
105 Epoxy Resin is the base material for the West System family of products, on which all of the West System compounds are built. The resin is a clear, pail yellow, low viscosity liquid epoxy resin. Formulated for use with West System hardener, it can be cured in a wide temperature range to form a high strength solid with excellent moisture resistance.
205 Fast Hardener is a medium viscosity epoxy curing agent. It is used in a majority of situations, at lower temperatures and to produce a rapid cure that develops it’s physical properties quickly at room temperature. When mixed with 105 Resin in a five part to one hardener ratio by volume the cured resin/hardener mixture yields a rigid, high strength, moisture resistant solid with excellent bonding and coating properties. Not intended for clear coating.
206 Slow Hardener is a low-viscosity epoxy curing agent for use when extended working time and cure time is needed or to provide adequate working time at elevated temperatures. When combined with 105 Resin in a five part to one hardener ratio by volume the cured resin/hardener mixture yields a rigid, high strength, moisture resistant solid with excellent bonding and coating properties. Not intended for clear coating.
